Using Goals & Intentions to Remove the Worry from Travel
Booking that ticket can be really overwhelming and scary.
If we’re honest, travel can usually have some unsuspecting fear locked away about some stressful unknown variables.
Whether it’s the company you’ll be in, how the itinerary or excursions will match up to expectations, or less than optimal weather, etc., we tend to have a bit of worry. Which can hinder maximum enjoyment on our much awaited respite.
Many of my coaching clients have recently brought these fears to my attention and we found a helpful solution to these unforeseen obstacles.
Before your trip, go ahead and ask yourself what you want to get out of it.
What your goals are or how to do you expect to feel at the end.
Rejuvenated? Relaxed? Fulfilled? Inspired?
While we can’t control everything, we can control ourselves.
When things start to head in a direction that feels icky or disappointing from your expectations, remember what you wanted to gain from your trip—then do something to move in that direction.
For example, if relaxation was a top priority and things start to feel stressful, go ahead and stop what’s happening and move in the direction of your goal as quickly as possible. Make your own peace. Grab a book, veg out on Netflix, order room service, go take a walk on the beach. Whatever makes you feel more relaxed.
When we are clear and focused on our goals from the start, it’s easier to make a quick strategic plan to ensure they’re met as much as possible.
After all, we have invested so much into these trips, don’t forget about investing in yourself.
Which is kinda the point, right?
